At Tesla, Inc. Global HQ in Austin, TX, I served as an Assistant Project Manager Intern on the Tool Infrastructure Team. In this role, I contributed to the management of over $1 billion worth of projects for the Cell, Li-Ion Battery, and Cybertruck manufacturing facilities at the Gigafactory, successfully reducing project timelines by 20% through strategic resource allocation and scheduling.
A major highlight of my internship was leading construction projects as an owner’s representative for the Cathode, Cell, and Cybertruck manufacturing facilities, where I played a pivotal role in managing contractors and ensuring the acceleration of project completion within Tesla's fast-paced work environment. Additionally, I pioneered Tesla’s first intern-led international assignment in China, where I oversaw logistics and decommissioning for the Gigafactory Nevada LFP battery project, improving shipping timelines during a one-week assignment.
I also took on a critical role in planning and executing the installation of key electrical infrastructure, such as Busway sections, Bus plugs, IPAC panels, and power distribution panels, ensuring compliance with both Tesla’s rigorous standards and the National Electric Code. I collaborated closely with teams across engineering, design, facilities, and manufacturing to ensure these systems were seamlessly integrated into production operations. My work included reviewing and marking up electrical plans, P&IDs, single-line diagrams, and route diagrams to ensure tools and utilities were installed precisely according to project specifications.
Throughout my time, I resolved over 15 design change requests (DCRs), generating self-perform tickets and coordinating with contractors, area project managers, and engineering teams. This effort helped reduce rework by 15%, ensuring project budgets and timelines were maintained.
During my tenure as a Project Engineer at L&T Construction in Bangalore, India, I played a pivotal role in overseeing the $400 million Bangalore International Airport Terminal-2 expansion project and the development of a multi-modal transportation hub emphasizing green building initiatives. By integrating the RPLiDAR system, the robot was engineered to navigate and map indoor construction sites with precision. Extensive testing validated its proficiency in both mapping accuracy and navigation capabilities.
This initiative marks a significant advancement in leveraging robotics to offer economical solutions for construction. By enhancing mapping efficiency by 40% and setting new benchmarks for affordability in mapping technology, the project is poised to elevate project execution standards through enhanced precision and cost-effectiveness.
I led the bid preparation for a low-rise expansion project, meticulously crafting a comprehensive work breakdown structure, project schedule, and cost estimate. I spearheaded a detailed construction planning simulation for a live facility, meticulously addressing project scoping, developing a comprehensive Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), conducting quantity take-offs (QTO), refining project scheduling, analyzing cash flow, optimizing resource allocation, implementing 4D modeling, integrating control systems, planning procurement, and utilizing digital applications.
This immersive exercise provided invaluable industry-level exposure in construction planning, allowing me to translate theoretical knowledge gained from coursework on Construction Planning into practical application.
Recognizing the importance of sustainability, I pioneered the development of a sustainable concrete mixture using Ordinary Portland cement, Porcelain filler, and Construction & Demolition (C&D) waste as aggregates. This innovative approach aimed to enhance environmental stewardship while maintaining high-quality standards, as evidenced by rigorous analysis of its compressive and flexural strength.
Moreover, I achieved an average cost reduction of 30% in concrete casting for construction projects by leveraging existing C&D debris and industrial waste materials. This dual-purpose strategy not only minimized waste but also contributed to significant economic savings, aligning projects with both environmental and financial sustainability goals.
I took the lead on a comprehensive survey project aimed at designing a township layout. My responsibilities included designing an earthen bund for the New Tank Project to manage local rainfall and allocating downstream land for agriculture. Additionally, I contributed to the redesign of a 1.3 km road for the Highway Realignment Project, focusing on enhancing traffic flow and safety measures.
Using AutoCAD, I conducted surveys across 20,000 sq. m to meticulously plan the township layout, integrating green spaces and recreational areas to enrich community life.
